NZ in the olympics

 Olympic reading!

In reading the past three or so weeks we have been learning about the Olympics. The task was to make a great DLO about either What makes up the important features of the Summer Olympic Games? How have the Olympic Games changed from the Ancient Games to the Modern Games to the Present Day Games? What is happening for NZ at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021? I chose to do the what is happening for NZ at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. I wrote about the medals that NZ got. Also about the different people that got the medals. Even if they are in teams like in the rowing. If it was a team I would put them all together. Also we have been taking books home about sports. In one of my books I learnt about triathlons. To get the information that I got was from google and also we collected some information from the school journals.

Check out my slide show it is not finished.I haven't put all the awesome athletes for New Zealand in.

Ako Hiko ambassador

 Kia Ora bloggers

A few weeks back I went to Wesley Primary School and learnt about being an ambassador. An ambassador is someone who like represent their school. The schools that came to the ambassador meeting are. Wesley Primary, Wesley Intermediate, Waikowhai Primary (my school), Hay Park, Owairaka Primary, May Road and New Windsor. We talked about what an ambassador is and played some games and after that meeting we got this awesome digital and not digital badge! We had a second meeting online and we talked about making podcasts. We also talked about the challenges, success's and ideas. Some of the things that we use to make a podcast is We video and Screencastify. We used docs to make scripts. So that we didn't forget what to say.

Spark Arena Trip

 Spark Arena

Talofa bloggers. The Spark Arena trip was only for the year sixes. We got to go to Happy Place, Van Gogh Alive and Sounds Fun. We got there by bus it was 15-20 minutes. Happy Place is where we went first well the other two schools went to the Van Gogh one. I have to say that my favourite one was Happy Place though.

It had heaps of fun stuff. Like a ball pit to jump into, a cool place with mirrors and it had heaps of white plastic chains (some of my friends bumped into the mirror), a rubber ducky wall with a yellow bath with yellow balls in it, a room with a big fake cookie with chocolate chips that were like windows, an upside down room with things like a bed and a desk glued to  the roof and my personal favourite a big machine which had wind blowing from the bottom and confetti to throw up in the air.

Next we went to the Sounds Fun which was like its name fun. In the room that they did it in was all over the walls heaps of photos of musicians and their signature where their different tours were and that kind of thing. I think that I liked the station where you could try instruments like trumpets, trombones and one more that I can't remember. A lady that was near the entrance who was from APO Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra was playing this lovely music on her trombone. In the corner was an electric drum set that we could have a go at and a little station that you use a keyboard and it is on the screen as well.

Finally the Van Gogh Alive. It was a shame because me and my friend had already gone to this part and knew all of it. If you don't know, Van Gogh is a famous painter who died. Fun fact Van Gogh cut off his own ear the left one to be precise. The first room had some of his most famous painting and big long paragraphs about why he painted them. The second room to me seems like the main attraction. It had some of his thoughts on a big screen which was projected. All of the walls had a projector for them. On the other walls were some of his painting and the people who made this happen had made it come to life in a way.

That is pretty much it Blog ya later.

Student Toolkits

 Toolkits

Kia ora bloggers today I went to Owairaka Primary School  for the student toolkits. Toolkits is when the Ako Hiko schools all come together and the students share different tools on their chromebook.  There are three sessions an I was lucky to be presenting today. I was presenting Music Lab in session 2.

In session 1 I was learning more about Word Art. I did two word arts one about the toolkits and the other about my school netball team. The presenters names were Justus and Kapiri. Here is a link to their slideshow. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1jnfJo177B98PPMdf5ErB3SgY9QN5B_7rJFIPdMqLynU/edit#slide=id.p I think they were good and they helped when we needed it.

Session 2

Paityn and I were feeling a little nervous. It was our turn to present. Like I said it is called Music Lab that is the thing we are presenting. We had sold out on the amount of people for our toolkit. Here is the link to our slide https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1isu63LM5H8EgGh-NgvnUbRgQA3s_32m_7zdVn_96zns/edit       I think it was pretty good and people liked it.

Session 3

For session me and Paityn went to Webcam Toy a fun and funny website where you can take different photos and they have filters on them. Some of the filters made you have a funny face and othes just the lighting. Here is the link https://webcamtoy.com/

Hope you have fun on these links.

STEM week Waikowhai student led toolkits

💻Waikowhai Student Led Toolkits💻

Kia ora bloggers

Last week on Friday the middles and seniors at my school did our own student led toolkits. The reason being that it was STEM week last week. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and lastly Mathematics. In the toolkits there were two awesome presenters out of 24 and you could choose out of 12 different toolkits. A toolkit is where you are either an attendee or presenter. I was a presenter so I could only choose one other one. The things you could choose were. Music lab (which I was presenting), Spheros, Webcam toy, Google maps, Book creator, Word art, Drones, Makey Makey, Brain box, Piskel, Incredibox and slide animation.

Toolkit 1: Piskel

First of all do you know what Piskel is?  If you don't you should try it out it is really fun. Piskel is basically doing pixel art on an app that you can find on google. In the website you can change the colour of the pen that you use to fill in the different pixels on the screen. You can make a thing that is kind of like an animation and it moves or you can just make a normal picture. I went with my friends and we had fun on piskel. Here is the link: http://piskelapp.com/

Amount of people supposed to be there: 13

Here are some photos

It moves

Toolkit 2: Music Lab (My one and my buddy Paityn's one)

Amount of people:18

First we introduced ourselves and then we told them all about it. Then we taught them how to use it. Talked to them about some of the different types of things to use to make music. Here is the link to Music lab: https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Experiments

Some of the things you can do are shared piano where you send a link to somebody from the music lab site and play piano with your friends.

Here are some photos

Toolkit 3: Music Lab (again)

I think that the first one was better because I think it was pure luck but it wasn't to bad. It was basically the same as the first one.

Amount of people:17

Here are some photos

I think that if we got to do it another time I would choose to be an attendee instead of a presenter. It was kind of funny to see all the senior and middles running around in the seniors. It was a fun and interesting way to learn about different things on your chromebook.
